555 Brewing Company and The County Canteen

A few days ago, a video posted through the @555brewingco Instagram feed (featuring Nat Wollenberg of The County Canteen + 555 Brewing Co wearing a panda head), made me laugh out loud and I had to watch it on repeat. Since that video, she shot a few more hilarious “sequels” to promote their beer sale. 555 also partnered with The Marans dinebar for DEELISH food and beer delivery, and together – Guerin (from Marans) and Natalie shot another hilarious post. Thanks for making me laugh in these very stressful times!! We promptly ordered a pairing of food and beer and will do so again very soon. If you live here in PEC - you should too!!
Nat and Drew have been on my list of people that I wanted to celebrate through cartooning for a while (I did two cartoons here – swipe right to see the bear 😊). 5 years ago, they opened one of the community’s most loved pubs, The County Canteen, and shortly after – 555 Brewing Co. was born. When you step foot into either establishment – you are always warmly greeted by one of their staff – and quite often, by Nat personally. Her positive energy and spirit is SO infectious.
In a TOTAL nutshell (their story is really interesting – I hate to cram it into a nutshell) - Nat and Drew met while playing in a band together in Australia (Drew is a Canuck and attended University in Australia). A few years ago – they decided to move here to PEC to raise their family, start an “Aussie-style” pub and to be closer to Drew’s family who lives in the area. Drew was working in the music business and always had a passion for beer, and Nat had been working as a trauma nurse and continued to do so when they moved here. Their business took off immediately – so Nat left nursing and threw herself into the business alongside Drew. Needing more space to brew his popular beer – they expanded and opened 555.
We can’t wait for this crisis to end so they can open back up again for normal business!! But in the meantime – we will continue to support them during this crisis by ordering takeout (now offering pizza for takeout too!) and delivery and you can too!!! And thank you Drew for delivering the food and beer to us the other day!
