Capturing the Bounty of the County and its surrounding areas!

Sunday, April 19, 2020 12:25 PM

With all that is going on now – it is SO hard not to feel helpless. I have a compromised immune system and I’m getting up there in years (!!), so I am not confident to head out into the community to shop for others. But, one small thing that I can do is help to promote (in my own small way), local businesses that I love.

One of those businesses The County Bounty . I’ve written about Dodie Ellenbogen’s product in this space before and have always wanted to do a County Character cartoon for her because I LOVE her product and she really is a lovely character! I’ve had the great pleasure of working with her on events and she is a really awesome human being.

I don’t typically drink soda – truth is, I actually really disliked carbonated drinks until I tried The County Bounty!! At the suggestion of Jeremiah Soucie at Kinsip – I was convinced to try her “Roadside Botanicals”, LOVED it and then quickly taste-tested several other flavours and became a massive fan. It’s not heavily carbonated, and the flavours are just ridiculously creative and delicious.

Dodie’s business began as a market garden organic vegetable farm in 2016 outside of Picton. Shortly after, she started experimenting with soda by uniting all sorts of wonderful local flavours in really unique combinations and in 2018 - her soda company was born. Flavours like Roadside Botanicals (made from actual wild roadside botanicals!!), Rhubarb and Citrus Peel, Apple Lemon and Fennel, Blueberry Lemon Maple, Rose Hibiscus – I could go on. The flavours change throughout the season as different produce becomes available. They are SO SO GOOD.

These also are GREAT in cocktails too that could help fuel the explosion of virtual “Happy Hours” that I see my friends engaging in during these challenging times. Visit her social pages for recipe ideas, and visit her site to order some of your own!! Please consider helping to support our local producers so they can make it through these challenging times!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
