Pluck Tea is good for the Soul

Sunday, April 19, 2020 12:35 PM

I met Jennifer Commins, founder of Pluck Tea, through a mutual friend a couple of years ago and I’m very happy we met! I could have easily talked with her for hours, in fact, I think we did. The world of tea is something I had never explored before and her story is fascinating.

Not only is Jennifer a brilliant entrepreneur, but she is also a certified tea sommelier (!!) whose mission in 2012 was to set out and introduce premium tea to Toronto restaurants. Today, her business is fully committed to social and environmental stewardship as well as producing teas that are of exceptional quality. She travels the world sourcing premium tea leaves from sustainable sources and mixes them with unique local ingredients like lavender from Prince Edward County Lavender (love that place!!), Muskoka cranberries, blueberries, and grape skins from Niagara. Her award-winning teas can be found in leading restaurants, hotels, offices and through retail partners from coast-to-coast.

Before meeting Jennifer, I knew very little (actually, nothing!) about the painstaking process involved in tea production - she really opened my eyes to the state of the industry, and what high standards she holds her company to and her wonderful award-winning teas reflect that. My personal favourites are CTRL+ALT+DEL (Lemongrass, Ginger Pieces, Dried Nova Scotia Cranberries, Lemon Peel, Cinnamon, Apple Pieces, Hibiscus, Cardamom, Cloves, Stevia Leaf) and FIELDS OF GREEN (I love green tea).

A huge portion of her business relies on the restaurant/hospitality trade – which have obviously been hit hard by this virus. There is a reason some of the best restaurants chose to serve her quality tea and the GREAT news is that you can also purchase her products online (the site is listed in Pluck’s profile). I did that last week, and delivery was swift! Thanks, Jennifer, for producing products that have helped to calm my nerves during these turbulent times!! ❤️
