Rosehall Run Vineyards

Sunday, April 26, 2020 10:44 AM

We have had our place in PEC for 13 years now and from the very start – one of our favourite wineries to visit was Rosehall Run Vineyards. Still is! To this day – any time that we have had friends come to visit – this multiple award-winning winery is ALWAYS on our itinerary, and I always recommend to others who ask for advice on what wineries to visit. I had the good fortune of meeting Lynn Sullivan a few years ago and have since had the pleasure of working with her on promotional events. It turns out that we shared a similar career path working in PR until she veered off to start a winery with Dan in 2000. I stayed on in PR and chose to drink wine instead :)

Lynn is a Managing Partner of Rosehall Run and together with her partner, the incredibly talented winemaker and viticulturist Dan Sullivan (and other partners), they were among the first wave of brave souls who took a chance on the soils here and paved the way for what is now a flourishing wine industry here in PEC, and theirs is one of the finest.

They even changed how I felt about North American produced rosé. For the longest time, I was a COMPLETE rosé snob. I visited Cannes in 2007, tried rosé there and was smitten. I came back to Canada assuming I could find decent North American rosés but found they all were waaaay too sweet, so I gave up trying. A few years ago - I brought a friend to Rosehall for a tasting – and were offered their new rosé to try and I politely declined because I had given up all hope here! But whoever was pouring that day convinced me to try theirs and I’m sure glad they did because it wasn’t just good, it was really good – very much like what I remembered from Provence.

Producing wine is a business that's not for the faint of heart, particularly in our cold climate, and with the onset of COVID, a most unexpected challenge, it looks like we won’t be able to visit wineries for a while. The great news is that Rosehall has a full range of truly wonderful award-winning wines available online - so if a trip to PEC this summer isn’t in the cards just yet – at least we can all still enjoy their great wine and they deliver!! Visit the their site at www.rosehallrun.com or socially here:
