The Marans dinebar

Sunday, April 19, 2020 10:24 AM

In recent days/weeks – we’ve all have witnessed businesses morphing to adapt to this bizarro world that we all find ourselves in now. My heart literally aches daily for the local businesses and the people who run them that we have all grown to love.

One of those businesses is Picton’s @themaransdinebar , a charming restaurant that was launched in 2019 by chef Guerin Sykes (pictured here!) and his wife, Jessica. The family loves to travel, which is reflected in their delicious internationally- inspired dishes that borrow heavily from Asian and South East Asian cultures. In addition - they also focus on using locally-sourced ingredients. I laughed out loud this week when I saw a promotional video that Guerin and Nat Wollenberg of @555brewingco posted promoting their partnership (free delivery when you order take out through The Maran’s and include an order of 555 Beer). You have to see it - check out 555's posts, I just LOVE this spirit and we all need the laughs!!! The current take out menu features County-inspired charcuterie boards, delicious sandwiches and dishes like Char Siu Chicken which features Asian BBQ marinated chicken with chili and soy fried chow mein with Shanghai bok choi julienne vegetables (we are ordering that next!), a Mushroom and Brie Ghnocchi and a Roasted Veggie Madras Curry just to name a few. Visit their social pages to see the full menu - we can vouch for how good it is (and the beer is too!!). We clearly won’t be able travel for the foreseeable future, but we CAN take out and thoroughly enjoy delicious internationally inspired meals and this just might be the ticket - it’s a great escape! Try some of their deelish menu offerings (along with some great beer and wine!!), close your eyes and boom – you’re there! Thank you, Guerin, for your delicious food and for helping to keep our spirits high!! #supportsmallbusiness #supportlocal #princeedwardcounty
