We had the good fortune of meeting Cassandra Tyers at a dinner that was part of the Closson Chase Sunday night dinner series last year (if you ever have the opportunity to participate in one of their dinners, you should!). We had heard a great deal about Cassandra from our two dear friends, Mark Halman and Jeff Green who had recently rented bikes from her, so we were super excited to have the opportunity to finally meet her!

Cassandra and her husband Keith (Winemaker extraordinaire at Closson Road Winery) moved to The County in 2003 so that Keith, a Toronto-based sommelier at the time, could cut his teeth in the business of winemaking. They also were ready to start a family, and Cassandra wanted to be closer to her family in Kingston. Upon exploring the region - they knew The County was the right move for them.

In 2016, Cassandra had an idea. Living on Closson Road, an enviable road dotted with award-winning wineries, B&Bs, A Lavender Farm (that I love!), An Alpaca Farm (that I also love!) and just a short distance from the town of Wellington (that ain't so bad either!!) - she thought there was a unique opportunity to open a bike rental business. While the Bloomfeild Bicycle Company had been around for years, she realized that not everyone wants to ride great distances. Situated in a prime location for more casual touring, shortly after identifying this niche - Closson Road Cycles was born, a business that caters to casual short distance cyclists.

Cassandra not only offers bike rentals (with a variety of styles and even trailers), but she also offers guided bike tours and puts great thought into recommendations for her customers. She is an absolute joy to work with and is determined to provide her customers with the best experience possible.

Rentals are available seven days a week during the bike season, and their hours are flexible - you just need to have the bikes back before the sun sets. Visit their site listed below for times, prices and other important details!!
